The Meatball Shop Westport

DINNER REVIEW Admittedly, we came to the Meatball Shop because bartaco had too long of a wait and we had some hungry kids with us who were not in the best mood. We were trying to decide what to do because one of them is quite picky and we were pleasantly surprised by the amazing host who walked us through the menu regarding what would work for the kid to eat. He even brought out some fruit to bring a smile to the kid's face. It brought a smile to mine too :) We decided to go for it and were pleasantly surprised. Meatballs are a humble concept but this place shows that you can do them in many ways and forms. I went with the Moroccan which was perfectly-spiced lamb meatballs over mixed veggies, including multi-colored cauliflower (which is NOT what I would expect to see at a placed called "The Meatball Shop." The portions were also very generous for the price. We also shared a couple of veggies including the broccoli and corn. Both were good, not great, but definitely above average for a restaurant like this. What was really surprising about this place was their ice cream. They get it from a place called Ample Hills Creamery and it ended up being some of the best ice cream I've ever had. So rich and creamy. A very nice surprise. They have outdoor seating, which we didn't take advantage of, but it's RIGHT on the water which is a nice touch. The only negative experience was that we felt the waiter overcharged us for one of our dishes because we asked for the base of seasonal veggies and we assumed that if we got multiple but smaller portions of each, we would only get charged for one, but we instead got charged for all 3. That should have been clarified when we were ordering. Overall, good food and great service so I would definitely recommend this place if you're in town.

The best, kid-friendly restaurant in Westport. After having such a disappointing lunch experience at Bar Taco, a neighboring restaurant in Westport, my party of five decided we must get our dessert and coffee elsewhere. We tried The Meatball Shop and were so glad we did! We enjoyed fantastic cappuccinos, while our little ones enjoyed the high-quality ice cream. Not only did the staff show themselves to be meticulous and helpful, the restaurant is super clean with a fun, unpretentious vibe! I can't wait to go back and try all their dishes.
